** The DosEA System **
************************
DosEA is a series of hypertext tutorials on MS-DOS. Each program can be
"mixed or matched" with the other programs in the series. This means that
each one can be distributed separately, or they can be distributed as a
group. Each program stands on its own and covers certain aspects of DOS.
This is an open ended system. Additional programs are under development.
Generally speaking, the series is for new computer users. However, as the
series progresses the subject matter will become more complex. Later
programs in the series should be useful to even experienced users of DOS.
The series name is:
"DosEA"
The individual programs in the series, so far, are:
"DosEA 1 -- For Absolute Beginners"
"DosEA 2 -- What is DOS?"
"DosEA 3 -- 10 Easy Commands"
"DosEA 4 -- Find That Command!"
***************
** DosEA 3 **
***************
DosEA 3 is the third program in the series. The user should already know
how to use the hypertext system, and should have some idea of what DOS is.
DosEA 3 provides hands-on practice for 10 commands. The computer illustrates
how to enter each command, and then the user is given three tries to
do the command. If not successful, the computer, again, shows how to do it.
When a command is entered properly, the program has DOS to actually execute
the command.

DEA.ZIP "DosEA -- For Absolute Beginners"
Version 1.00, December 30, 1990, the orginal release.
Version 1.01, February 10, 1991, CompuServe version.
Version 1.02, March 28, 1991, Registration fee change.
DEA3.ZIP "DosEA 3 -- 10 Easy Commands"
Version 2.00, May 19, 1991. Significant rewrite of DEA.ZIP.
>> Less code.
>> Hard disk no longer required.
>> Fee change.
>> See below for more information.
This is Version 2.00.
Note: The "3" in DEA3.ZIP means that this is the third in the series.
It has nothing to do with the version number.
The DosEA idea was originally released as DEA.ZIP, or "DosEA -- For Absolute
Beginners," which required a hard disk. This was broken down to a series
of smaller programs so that floppy disks could be used. The first of these
smaller programs is DEA1.ZIP, or "DosEA 1 -- For Absolute Beginners." The
difference is that a "1" was added to the filename and the title.
Contrast "DosEA -- For Absolute Beginners," which was the original
(large) progam, with "DosEA 1 -- For Absolute Beginners," which is the
new (small) program and the beginning of the new series.
The large old system was broken down as follows so that floppies could be
used:
New ("DosEA") Old ("DosEA -- For Absolute Beginners")
----------------------------------- ---------------------------------------
"DosEA 1 -- For Absolute Beginners" = Tutor on hypertext
"DosEA 2 -- What is DOS?" = 1st half of old program
"DosEA 3 -- 10 Easy Commands" = 2nd half of old program
"DosEA 4 -- Find That Command!" = Incentive to register
The programs were significantly rewritten during this breaking up process.
If you are distributing the old system, you should discard it and begin
distributing the new system.
